The College for Adult Learning or CAL was established in response to demands from organisations for a professional development company who listens to what they want and works with them to achieve their goals. Furthermore, businesses want us to focus just on the specific skills and knowledge required for the business to perform at its best. So, they want to work in partnership with a learning organisation who takes the time to understand their business, see where the gaps are and then works on developing the skills and knowledge gaps in the organisation.

CAL is passionate about Service Excellence and learning being embedded in the workplace.

We believe that too much time and money is currently being wasted on inefficient training programs that are primarily focused around the norm and therefore have little to no impact on most individuals who sit outside of the ‘norm’. Even the best training programs fail to deliver – with a group of 20 or more individuals seeking to learn it is impossible to provide optimum learning for any of them.

CAL has developed an efficient, effective training model based on workplace coaching. Everything we offer is underpinned by a coaching model that will guarantee results.

Customer Service Excellence is a key determiner of success in a very crowded market.

We believe that for an organisation to function at its optimum level it requires a focus on the development of skills and knowledge across all staff within the organisation. We believe every person in the business is important to business success and that, truly successful organisations focus on internal skills and knowledge development. Furthermore, we believe that for an organisation to grow, expand and evolve it must provide an excellence of customer service above and beyond its competition.

The critical success factor in both skills/knowledge development and customer service is recognition – what skills/knowledge are required by whom to achieve what and, what level of customer service is required by whom to achieve what?

Far too often organisations’ react to poor business performance or lacklustre customer service through wholesale group training commenced before a real time skills audit can be completed against the business drivers and the real needs identified.

To get the most out of any learning or development activities you must first take the time to understand your business goals, then audit these goals and required skill/knowledge levels against the status quo to determine precisely how to move forward.

The College focus is on Business improvement and customer service excellence and the people who directly influence this. We work closely with business owners, managers, supervisors and a range of stakeholders and staff.

Our work is focused in the workplace and therefore almost all of our interaction with learners occurs in the workplace or on the shop floor. We specialise in all aspects of business management both the hard core business process and the softer skill sets necessary when working with others, HRM and Project Management. Customer Service Excellence is a key component of all College activity and we have a successful history with retail business and driving business sales.

The preferred learning mode across all aspects of learning is one-to-one coaching which we offer for business consultancy services as well as training development. We offer a small, select range of very specific skills based short courses and all our activities can be linked to accredited training and qualification pathways.

CAL is a Registered Training Organisation and is able to offer a range of business, retail and sales qualifications in all the fields listed above.
